Diversity

Ok, since I'm "too young" to be in this much pain, maybe I am also the naive one here, but I am just realizing something...

Our stories, our frustrations, and even our suffering is so simliar, yet our pain could not be more different. I acknowledge our infinite diversity from each other, but It is shocking to me to see how closely our stories can parallell each other when the sources of our pain are so completely different. It seems like the PAIN EXPERIENCE transcends age, race, and even condition! It's like a common language that we all learned - I think we learn it trying to figure out this fucking medical system; we learn it in the middle of the night when just nothing helps, and we learn it when the meds stop working... again.

Even when our stories diverge, are all so alike in this One Way. it's just fascinating to me... and comforting, too, though I truly wish that none of us had to be here in the pain tribe.

----me too--i also wish no one had to be here but i am happy i found this site and people who know what pain is---all doctors i have spoken to do NOT. They are influenced I believe by an anti-pleasure puritanical bias of this culture wherein it is ok to suffer but not ok to be ecstatic or pleasure filled and pain free. I believe this bias is demonstrated by the reluctance to prescribe truly adequate amounts of pain medication AND I think that position is ridiculous...... be well all!...ich.
