Run, do not walk, to the doctor if you have chronic pain and have never been prescribed Elavil (Amitriptyline). It is a tricyclic antidepressant which is also prescribed for chronic nerve pain. I started taking it a couple of weeks ago and am amazed at how helpful it is. It increases the levels of all of the feel-good brain chemicals.
WOW! What a difference.

Re: Elavil.
Mon, March 24, 2008 - 3:47 PMI remember that one.
I took it for 2 weeks trying to control migraine.
It made me really stupid and grumpy for 2 weeks then suddenly I awoke in love with the universe, all things were sacred, I saw a comet at dawn and wrote poetry. It did not help my headache but it sure made a huge impression on me.
Nothing ever had such a wonderful effect on me before.
Congratulations! -

have you tried cymbalta before this? it was touted to me as having pain killing properties as well but didn't seem to have much effect. what dose are you taking? how long did it take to kick in?
