Hi People.
I am reaching out. Its amazing how I have lost friends because of pain. People don't understand.I am one of the lucky ones in that my problems show up in MRI and X-rays. For a long time I did not realize I could ask for more powerful drugs.
I was just prescribed morphine sulfate and valium for anxiety. My doctor now thinks my HBP could be affected by the anxiety. I was taking way to many vicodin and starting to get lower back pains. I went in with a list to my doctor and he just pretty much gave me everything I wanted. I did not ask for morphine and was actually shocked I have it. This is my first full day on it... well its just 6PM. I stayed home to monitor myself. I guess it takes a few days for it to really work. I sure don't seem to need the vicodin. One of my biggest fears is withdrawal and today I was told about a drug called subxone for withdrawal. Does anyone know about it. Because of my world view I worry about suddenly being cut off from meds... does anyone else?
Please tell me what you think of morphine sulfate and what I can expect... be it good or bad
Maryann

Re: I just got a new pain med....

Forget the anxiety - pain is a known risk factor for increased blood pressure.
I am glad you are finding relief.

Re: I just got a new pain med....
Thu, April 12, 2007 - 1:38 PMHey Maryann,
I take morphine sulfate - it works pretty well for me and has few side effects. It doesn't take away my pain, but it usually takes some of the edge off, and seems to make my other meds "stronger." My only problem is needing more and more because of my blossoming tolerance to opioids. It doesn't work quickly, but the relief it provides is pretty steady. I thought it would be stronger than it is (for pain relief), but it feels pretty mild. Withdrawal from a slow release morphine is alot easier than coming cold turkey off of percocet (for me anyway).
Good luck with things anyway.
Peace,

What kind of morphine sulphate are you on and what mg? are you on slow release or immediate release? I have both version and basically the one enhances the other, but people seem to think they're going to got that stoned feeling which os something I have never experienced in fact your body seems to know exactly how much you need to help with the problem. I would be glad to talk off line a little more about it if you have specific questions. along with the other issues, since I have insights into that as well.
Regardless Best of Health Box
for the most part I live pain free these days, which I never thought would happen, considering just a year and a half ago my average pain daily pain level was an 7-8. i still have the same permanent issues.
